The Rococo and Neoclassical influences of the painter Franz Xaver Winterhalter's portraits of Empress Joséphine can be seen on the classic Mary Jane, slingback sandals and elegant pumps.

Surrealist films inform high-impact styles this season. The castellations of both real and imagined medieval architecture inspire scalloped cut-outs made in a palette of contrasting materials.
